Owusi has been accused of plotting and stealing, and he appeared before Magistrate L.J.K Layeni to face these charges. Nevertheless, he denied the accusations by pleading not guilty.
Anthony Owusi, a 49-year-old man, has been brought to court in Lagos for allegedly stealing 245 car tyres. He appeared before Magistrate L.J.K Layeni in an Ojo Magistrate’s Court, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges of conspiracy and theft.
The prosecution counsel, Dr Simon Uche, informed the court that the defendant committed the crime on September 5, 2022, in the Akinbayode area of Ojo. He claimed that Owusi and some others who are still at large conspired to steal 245 car tyres of different sizes, valued at N4.2 million, belonging to Chukwudi Emele, the complainant.
The prosecutor stated that this act contravenes the provisions of sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State 2015.
The defendant was granted bail by Layeni in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum. The case was adjourned until May 17 for trial
