Former Nigerian Vice President and Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has sent a congratulatory message to Governor Umaru Fintiri after he was announced as the winner of the Adamawa state governorship election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Atiku conveyed his message via his official Twitter account on Wednesday.

Atiku referred to Fintiri’s victory as a triumph for democracy, expressing his belief that good ultimately prevails over evil. He further stated that Fintiri’s success serves as a precursor to his own victory at the presidential election tribunal.

Atiku Abubakar has congratulated Governor Umaru Fintiri on his victory in the Adamawa state governorship election, describing it as a victory for democracy. He expressed his confidence in the victory of the PDP at the presidential election tribunal, based on Fintiri’s success

Atiku stated, “Congratulations, Gov Ahmadu Fintiri, on your deserved reelection as governor of Adamawa State. Thank you to the people of Adamawa and men and women of goodwill for staying the course in resisting coupists and enemies of democracy from having their way,”

The author of the statement emphasizes the importance of Nigerians being watchful and not succumbing to anti-democratic forces whose aim is to steal and undermine the mandate of the people expressed through their votes. The lesson was learnt from a recent exercise, and the author urges Nigerians to remain vigilant.

In a separate development, Atiku, who is challenging the emergence of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu as President-elect, expressed optimism about winning at the presidential election tribunal. This follows the victory of Fintiri in a recent election

He stated, “By the way, it is not yet uhuru as we still have one more major mandate to reclaim, and together as ONE, we shall accomplish the task for the good of our country and its people.”

Earlier, the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Adamawa state, Hudu Yunusa-Ari, declared Aisha ‘Binani’ Dahiru of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the winner of an election. However, this declaration was made before the collation of results for the supplementary exercise was completed. The announcement was met with public outcry and condemnation.

Subsequently, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) nullified the declaration made by the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of Adamawa state.
