The authorities apprehended the suspects in order to eliminate all types of criminal activities in Kano State, particularly the problems of hooliganism, substance abuse, and other undesirable behaviors.
The arrested suspects
The Kano State Police Command has reported the arrest of forty-four individuals on charges of armed robbery, drug trafficking, and thuggery. The operation was carried out across Kano metropolis by CSP Bashir Musa Gwadabe, who led the Anti-Daba Squad in an effort to restore peace to the state.
In a statement released on Thursday by SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, it was revealed that the operation was part of a wider campaign to eradicate all forms of criminal activity in Kano State, particularly drug abuse, thuggery, and other social vices. All of the suspects were arrested at various addresses in Kano Metropolitan and were found to be in possession of dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and stolen property.
Upon completion of the investigation, the suspects will be charged to court, according to Kiyawa. In anticipation of the 2023 Eid El Fitr Sallah Celebrations, the State Commissioner of Police Command, Mamman Dauda, has warned that anyone caught carrying a weapon during the festivities will be arrested.
In addition, Dauda urged all criminals to either repent or leave the state completely, warning that those who choose to stay will be arrested and prosecuted to the full extent of the law. Finally, Dauda expressed his appreciation to the people of Kano State for their unwavering support, understanding, encouragement, and cooperation.
