Kunle Remi, a Nollywood actor, has expressed his disappointment after receiving no nominations in the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) 2023, despite his lead role in the movie “Anikulapo,” which received 16 nominations.
The film, directed and co-produced by Kunle Afolayan, featured actors such as Bimbo Ademoye, Sola Sobowale, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Taiwo Hassan, Yinka Quadri, and Eyiyemi Afolayan, among others.
Bimbo Ademoye received a nomination for Best Actress in a Drama, Movie or TV Series, while Yinka Quadri and Taiwo Hassan were nominated for Best Supporting Actor (Movie/TV Series), and Sola Sobowale was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama, Movie or TV Series.
Fans of the movie have criticized the AMVCA for what they believe is a deliberate exclusion of Kunle Remi from the nominations. Since the release of the nominations, lovers of the movie have been criticising the AMVCA for what they described as deliberate exclusion of the actor.
It remains unclear why Kunle Remi was not nominated, despite his exceptional performance in the film. Nevertheless, his fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment and to show support for the actor. The AMVCA has not responded to the backlash from fans and critics, but many are hopeful that they will address the issue soon.
