Former Super Eagles midfielder, Emmanuel Ebiede, has passed away at the age of 47. He died on Friday in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, after battling with Hepatomegaly. Ebiede passed away at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital and is survived by his wife and three children.

Ebiede was a member of the Flying Eagles team that participated in the African Youth Championship on home soil in 1995. He had a short career with the senior Nigerian national team, earning only two caps. His first appearance was in a friendly match against Iran, played before the 1998 World Cup, under Serbian coach Bora Milutinovic.
