The Alex-Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki has been evacuated to receive treatment for the injured passengers, according to the FRSC.
On Tuesday, April 11, a horrific accident near the Ezillo end of the Enugu-Abakaliki-Ogoja expressway, in Ebonyi State, has claimed the lives of twelve people.
A Ford shuttle bus and an articulated vehicle were involved in the collision. According to a witness, the collision occurred at a high pace.
According to the Ebonyi Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), two other people suffered critical injuries in the collision.
Uche Chukwurah, the FRSC Sector Commander, confirmed the mishap and informed reporters in Abakaliki that a total of 14 individuals were involved.
“The shuttle bus has a registration number of EBJ 350 XA, but the articulated vehicle has no registration number,”
Ten men and two women are dead, and the catastrophe happened around ten in the morning, she stated.
The injured passengers were sent to Alex-Ekwueme Federal Teaching Hospital in Abakaliki for medical attention, the sector commander continued.
“The FRSC expresses its condolences to the bereaved families and offers prayers for the souls of the deceased.
We implore drivers to understand that life is unique and to drive in order to survive, she said.
