By the time the officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) arrived at the scene of the accident, the victims had already passed away.
In Ogun State, a hit-and-run driver allegedly killed an Okada rider and his two passengers. According to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), its night rescue team conducted a rescue operation on the Abeokuta-Sagamu route around Okemosan, Abeokuta. The corps received information about the accident at approximately 5 a.m on Saturday.
Florence Okpe, the FRSC spokesman in Ogun, said that when the rescue team arrived at the crash scene, they found three victims – the Okada rider and the two passengers – lying lifeless on the ground after being hit by an unknown vehicle.
She added that the rescue team immediately transported the victims to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, but unfortunately, they did not survive. The families of the victims were contacted, and their bodies were handed over to them.
Meanwhile, the FRSC Sector Commander in Ogun, Ahmed Umar, expressed his condolences over the tragic incident. Umar suggested that if the driver had taken the victims to the hospital for medical attention, their lives could have been saved.
He also urged motorists to be mindful of other road users and to drive at a speed that they can manage.
