The Department of State Services detained Arayomi, his wife Tahmar, and their aide, Emmanuel Ezerika, on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja. Arayomi and Tahmar are both British nationals.
Prophet Tomi Arayomi, the founder of the RIG Nation and the Pioneer Church in the United Kingdom, and his family have left Nigeria after being detained by the Department of State Services and eventually freed.
Recall that the Department of State Services detained Arayomi, his wife Tahmar, and their helper, Emmanuel Ezerika, on Friday at the Nnamdi Azikwe Airport in Abuja. They are all British citizens.
The DSS did not state why it had detained the pair.
Reliable sources told Punch that Arayomi was detained for making “inciting prophecies.”
The security personnel later released Arayomi and his wife, but they left their attendant in their care.
The prophet broke his silence on the subject via his official Instagram account. He thanked followers for their support and described how they were detained by the DSS.
During Friday’s ordeal with the DSS, Prophetess Tahmar and I would like to convey our gratitude for all of your prayers and global support, he said.
“We can confirm that on Good Friday, April 7, we traveled to Abuja to visit one of our branches when we were picked up by a group of roughly six armed individuals who gave no indication that they were from the DSS or any other law enforcement agency.
We were made to give up our cell phones and board the vehicles before being driven quickly to what we later identified as the DSS headquarters. My wife, myself, and my assistant, Emmanuel Ezerika, were all subjected to this. The policemen weren’t immediately recognizable as DSS, and some of them had balaclavas on.
He continued, “Our photographs, fingerprints, and data were taken, and we were confined inside a room without really knowing the reasons behind our detention.
After a protracted interrogation, it appears that pressure from the media and social media caused the DSS to free my wife and me.
“My assistant is still in DSS custody, and up to this point, the DSS has been evasive about his precise location. We are currently waiting for my aide’s safe release, so we won’t discuss the specifics of the probe just yet.
According to Arayomi, his family left the nation for safety.
Though they had to make the decision quickly, he pointed out that they would soon be returning to a new Nigeria.
He explained, “We made the sad decision to leave Nigeria abruptly because we were worried about the safety of my small children and my wife. This choice was not made hastily, but rather after careful consideration, prayer, and advice from our board, trustees, fellow ministerial colleagues, and each family.
I can vouch for our safety and promise to keep working and praying for a new Nigeria. We are still adamant that we will return to the country we have come to call home, but for the time being, we will keep pushing forward, praying, and giving God no time to rest until Nigeria is praised across the world.
“We had no illusions of comfort when we traveled to Nigeria. Despite being completely aware of the risk, we came to serve the Lord.
We want you to know that Tahmar and I are still steadfast in our dedication to Nigeria and the many outstanding leaders we have met there.
“We want to express our gratitude to all the leaders and friends that called, texted, and posted. We are really appreciative. This is not a farewell. This will soon see you in a new and improved Nigeria.
The DSS reportedly declined to comment on the matter and provided no information regarding the specifics of the arrests, according to The PUNCH.
