He claimed that the governor had trodden on the tail of a tiger with his comments against him and would suffer the consequences.

Sen. Dino Melaye, a former lawmaker from Kohi, criticized Gov. Nyesom Wike for his remarks regarding his desire to become governor.

In a press conference earlier on Tuesday, Governor Wike disqualified Melaye in advance of the PDP primary, which comes before the governorship election on November 15.

Governor Wike referred to Melaye’s ambition as a joke.

You know Dino won’t win in Kogi State when you give him the ticket. Why would Kogi residents claim they would support a person like Dino? Are you serious? Governor questioned.”

However, Melaye claimed it was unexpected that Wike had suddenly become the self-appointed public office regulator, who could decide what would happen in states, in a message posted on his social media account. He claimed that the governor had trodden on Tiger’s tail with his comments against him, and he would suffer the consequences.

“Wike should be reminded that Kogi is not Rivers, and the residents of Kogi State would not worship any foreign God, once he has recovered from his intoxication. Above all, Wike needs to comprehend that God is the true owner of power and that he may grant it to anybody he pleases, even the lowest of men. Wike can criticize me today and dismiss me as unfit to lead my state, but has he forgotten that he supported my bid for governor in 2019? Please tell him that I have held elected office in the Federal Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as well as having served in the Federal House of Representatives.

Melaye claimed that Wike is opposed to his bid for governor because he backed PDP nominee Atiku Abubakar in opposition to the governor’s interest in the G5.

He (Wike) needs to understand that the discomfort of a bird perched on a rope has now become his portion after touching the tiger’s tail and killing sleep.”

Stay in your lane, Wake. Daniel Dino Melaye here. My specialty is training lions, whether they are black or white, living in caves or swimming in rivers, he declared.

Read Dino’s full statement below;

The unfortunate consequences of Rivers State’s residents having an unstable mind and a prodigal head as the State’s governor for the past 8 years were brought to light by Nyesom Wike’s simultaneous appearance on certain national television in Nigeria earlier today. In the end, the dishonorable Wike did nothing more than purchase valuable media time to air his grievances against Nigerians who are more competent than him to serve as governors of Nigeria.

Wike has transformed himself into a perverted outsider who engages in pitiful melodrama anytime he leaves the intoxication of his bottle mates, presumably out of psychotic impulse. Wike has been hallucinated by the patrimonial resources of the good, but poor people of Rivers State. He has suddenly assumed the role of the self-appointed public office regulator, with the power to control events in states that are not even remotely adjacent to his colonized State.

When Wike sobers up from his intoxication, he should be informed that Kogi is not Rivers and that no foreign god is worshipped by the inhabitants of Kogi State. Above all, Wike needs to comprehend that God is the true owner of power and that he may grant it to anybody he pleases, even the lowest of men. And how did a pompous individual like Nyesom Wike become governor if not for this absolute and indiscriminate dispensation by God? Is it his public speaking, hard work, dexterity, riches, or intellectual capacity?

Wike can criticize me today and dismiss me as unfit to lead my state, but has he forgotten that he supported my bid for governor in 2019? Please remind him that I have held elected positions in the Federal Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as the Federal House of Representatives.

I can sympathize with Wike’s suffering. He requested my support for his misguided bid to lead the People’s Democratic Party in the 2023 presidential election, but I refused because I knew Atiku Abubakar, a cosmopolitan and cultured statesman, was more deserving of the nomination. Wike had been throwing temper tantrums throughout the campaign, but Atiku ignored them all. I think Wike thinks I’m His Excellency Atiku Abubakar. He must understand that the suffering of a bird suspended on a rope is now his share because he stroked the tiger’s tail and killed sleep.

If Wike had a reflective mind, he would now be more worried about his post-tenure survival because, as a result of his carelessness in misusing Rivers State’s resources, his prison uniform and inmate number must already be made and ready for him to be assigned. By the grace of God, I will continue to enjoy my independence while also sending Wike help from Government House Lokoja.

Wike’s impertinence and attrition campaign harmed our great Party’s reputation in the eyes of the people. He does not like the Party’s leadership and is unable to switch parties because none will accept Wike in his unredeemable position of shameful liability. The decision is up to the wonderful people of Kogi State as they get ready for the governor’s race. Wike’s nasty schemes and destructive behavior will all come to nothing. I haven’t asked for or anticipated Wike’s assistance. My ambition is on track. The least I can do is use my time to divert my attention from Wike’s uncontrolled tongue’s arguments. I am led by the Scriptural invocation as I proceed.

I won’t be ashamed because the Lord God will aid me. For this reason, I have set my face like a flint and am confident that I won’t be.

Who will challenge Me while He who justifies Me is close by? Let’s support one another. Who are My enemies? Allow him to approach Me.

The Lord God will undoubtedly assist me; Whom will accuse Me, and why? They will all, in fact, age like a garment, and the moth will devour them.

Isa. 50:7–9.

Allow me to leave Nyesom Wike with this final verse as I pull the curtain:

All of you who start a fire and cover themselves with sparks, have a look: You will receive this from my hand: You will lie down in anguish while you walk in the light of your fire and the sparks you have sparked.

Jeremiah 50:11.
