On the fifth day of his official trip to Saudi Arabia, the President had a meeting with certain governors and other officials, as stated in a press release by his media spokesperson, Garba Shehu, on Sunday.

Top Nigerian officials, including governors and other officials, have visited President Buhari in Saudi Arabia to brief him on the conclusion of supplementary elections and other happenings in the country. The President met with them at the Makkah Guest Palace on his fifth day of the official visit.

According to a statement by his media aide, Garba Shehu, Buhari acknowledged the supremacy of Nigeria’s democracy and the strength of its institutions, which he believes must continue to be strengthened for the country’s progress.

During the meeting, the governors of Yobe, Borno, and Katsina states, as well as the Governor-elect of Katsina, commended the President for his efforts in combating the Boko Haram insurgency in their states, which has resulted in the restoration of peace.

The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Abdulrasheed Bawa, also spoke on the progress made in concluding court cases and the plan to prosecute more offenders, including those arrested in connection with election fraud.

Ex-Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai (retd), and the Chairman of Nigerians in Diaspora Commission, NiDCOM, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, were also present at the meeting.

In his remarks, the Katsina Governor-elect, Dikko Umar Radda, assured the President of his commitment to an open and transparent government, as he had promised during his campaign
