The Olu of Warri Kingdom, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse III, has appointed a new Ologbotsere (Prime Minister) of Warri Kingdom. The installation ceremony of Chief Oma Eyewuoma, the former Aboludero of Warri Kingdom, was held in the monarch’s palace in Warri amidst controversy. During the ceremony, the monarch emphasized that he will determine the terms of reconciliation and that no one will hold the throne to ransom.
However, shortly after the installation, Chief Ayirimi Emami walked out of the palace, claiming to still be the Ologbotsere.
He asserted that he possessed the traditional beads presented to him by former Kings, HRM Ogiame Atuwatse II and HRM Ogiame Ikenwoli, as well as the Uda.
Chief Ayiri displayed the traditional beads and sword to the members of the Ologbotsere descendants and supporters who accompanied him to his residence. Alex Eyengho, the spokesman for the Ologbotsere descendants worldwide, later addressed the press and explained that the Ologbotsere title is held “till death”.
Pastor Ayodele Joseph Oritsejafor left the conference as the former president of the Christian Association of Nigeria.
Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, a former governor of Delta State, was present and attended the entire ceremony.
There were other notable Itsekiri sons present, including palace chiefs, but they left disappointed.
