Godswill Akpabio, the senator-elect for Akwa Ibom North West, denied rumors that he had withdrawn from consideration for the 10th Senate’s Senate Presidency.
On Monday, some media outlets publicly speculated that the former governor of Akwa Ibom State could forego his bid for the Senate presidency in favor of a ministerial position in Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s next administration.
At the All Progressives Congress, APC, presidential primaries, Akpabio was one of the seven candidates that resigned in favor of Tinubu.
Akpabio pointed out flaws in the report on the withdrawal from the Senate Presidency election and said that it was the result of blackmail.
The Senator-elect issued the following statement through his chief press secretary, Mr. Jackson Udom: “Please, remind them that the report is completely untrue and blackmail prepared and served from the bottom of hell. These tissues of lies are hollow and only exist in the supporters’ and purveyors’ minds.
