According to a source, the student received her matriculation gown and returned to class before the incident occurred.
Aminat Tajudeen, a 100-level student of the Kwara State College of Education, reportedly collapsed and died while attending a lecture. The incident happened on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
The student had just collected her matriculation gown for the ceremony scheduled for the following day when the incident happened. According to Punch, the incident occurred around 1:30 pm.
A source stated that the student had returned to class after collecting her gown, but suddenly slumped during a lecture. A senior staff member of the school said that the late Aminat was rushed to the school clinic after the incident.
Despite efforts to save her life, Aminat Tajudeen later died. She was taken to the Muslim cemetery, Osere, for her Janazah and burial.
The deceased’s father, while speaking at her burial, was quoted as saying that “she showed no sign or symptom of any sickness. We had quite a lengthy discussion on several issues before I escorted her to get a cab to the school.”
The college Public Relations Officer, Mrs Abibat Zubair, confirmed the incident and said that the deceased was a student of Music/Yoruba.
The PRO added that Aminat was mourned by the college and students during the matriculation ceremony. The Provost visited the parents to offer condolences.
