Police in Tripoli have arrested a Nigerian couple in connection with the death of a Nigerian woman named Happiness Monday.

The couple is suspected of killing the woman and leaving her body near the Nigerian Embassy in Tripoli. The incident was reported on Wednesday, April 13, 2023, by The Libya Observer.

Last month, a Nigerian sports journalist and Libya returnee named Oyiza had reported about the murder. According to her account, the wife of the couple hit the deceased woman on the head with a heavy metal object. When they realized that she was barely conscious, the husband called a taxi driver and they dumped her body near the Nigerian Embassy.

In a plea for help on social media, Oyiza had shared a post asking for assistance in identifying the deceased woman’s relatives.

She urged people from Akwa Ibom, the Nigerian state where the victim was believed to have come from, to come forward with any information that could help identify her family.

The woman needed to be buried, but without the consent of her relatives, nothing could be done. The only information available about the victim was her name.
