Peter Obi

Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, would not leave Nigeria, according to the Labour Party Presidential Campaign Council, despite the pressure that is being put on him.

This was revealed in a statement released on Thursday by Tanko Yunusa, the chief spokesperson for the Obi-Datti Campaign Council.

The PCC claims that the pressure being put on Obi from some places is the result of troublemakers who want to stop him from seeking justice through the courts.

Remember that Obi claimed on Wednesday that he was being forced to flee the country as a result of attacks coming from many directions.

In a statement sent on Wednesday via his verified Twitter account, Obi said that the leaked audio discussion between himself and Bishop David Oyedepo was a fraud and was doctored.

Despite the pressure placed on him and his family, the Labour Party PCC insisted that Obi had no plans to leave the country.

“Most regrettably, in the past few weeks, Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the election for president on February 25, 2023, has been contacted by associates, wise men, family, and friends with concerns for his personal safety,” the statement continues.

These worries have grown significantly over the past few days as heavy pressure to leave the nation has been put directly on Obi.

“It is difficult to understand and regrettably unfortunate that state institutions have joined a well-planned, deliberate, and orchestrated campaign of slander by the APC to delegitimize Mr. Peter Obi and force him to give up his right to seek redress in court, in response to the results of the previous election, which were deemed to have failed to meet any standards of credibility or fairness both locally and internationally.

They are disseminating an audio call that was altered to be a phony as part of the overall plan. Mr. Obi never expressed the opinion that the 2023 election will be or has already been a religious conflict at any point during the campaign or up to the present.

The attempts to influence Nigerians are despicable and very sad. Instructed to take the proper legal action against media outlets that serve as willing pawns in the hands of the APC’s nefarious propagandists is our legal staff.

“Many more campaigns of defamation against Mr. Obi are scheduled to begin in the near future, both before and during the legal process,” it continued. However, we want to be clear with the APC party, APC-led administration, and its representatives that Mr. Obi, a widely respected.

“We appeal to Nigerians and the global community to warn the APC and the APC-led government to cease these vile attacks. Mr. Obi’s focus and dedication to restoring our nation’s security and unification mandate through lawful and peaceful means, moving Nigeria from a consumer to a producer, rescuing millions of Nigerians from multifaceted poverty, particularly in the North, and igniting prosperity through an agricultural, industrial, and technological revolution, all remain unwavering.

He has persisted in emphasizing to his supporters the value of the legal system and his resolve to never again endorse acts of state brutality. He is neither desperate nor acting out of any motive, especially considering how the campaign has gone.

“For this reason, we make a special appeal to venerated religious figures in the North, especially, to refrain from cooperating with the state apparatus’ broad plan to widen the nation’s racial and religious division.

“Regardless of the outcome of the legal proceedings, we have a duty to work toward the peace and coexistence of all Nigerians.”
