Samuel Ortom, the Governor of Benue State, on Monday, has extended an invitation to the state’s governor-elect, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia.
He invited Alia to nominate his representatives to the transition committee set up by the State Government.
Ortom, who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government and Chairman of the Transition Committee, Prof Anthony Ijohor, visited the Governor-elect at his Makurdi residence to present Ortom’s letter to him.
He also assured the Governor-elect of a seamless handover to the incoming administration on May 29, 2023.
The Governor-elect, Fr Alia, thanked Ortom for congratulating him in his brief remarks and officially invited him to join the State Transition Committee in advance of the May 29 handover.
In response to the current governor’s request, Alia vowed that he would be appointing a few members of his team to the Transition Committee in the coming days.
The State Head of Civil Service, Mrs. Veronica Onyeke, and the Commissioner for Education, Dr. Saawuan Tarnongu, were also members of the Governor’s group.
